Paris Nice 2017
VIP Hospitality

11th & 12th March 2017

The Paris-Nice has its 75th edition in 2017 and the stage race is traditionally where the European World Tour stage racing season starts in earnest. Some of the world’s best stage racers have their first chance to make a serious statement of intent for the 2017 cycling season. In 2017 there will be 8 stages, 1 ITT, an unprecedented summit finish on the Col de la Couillole on the penultimate stage on the Saturday and the last stage starts and finishes on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

The 2016 edition of Paris-Nice...
Geraint Thomas maintained Team Sky’s grip on Paris-Nice in 2016. He narrowly won the 74th edition of the Race to the Sun on the aptly-named Promenade des Anglais (but Thomas is Welsh of course) for the British outfit’s 4th victory in five years in the event. But it was a tense battle for the Welshman, harassed all day by Alberto Contador (Tinkoff), who attacked repeatedly on the last two climbs before finishing second in both the stage and overall, missing his 3rd Paris-Nice crown by a slim four seconds.
As the expectation was that the descent would be decisive, Team Sky’s mechanics had cleverly put bigger gearing on Thomas’ bike which must have made the difference as he managed to keep Contador at bay with just a 4 second margin. Thomas, who salvaged his yellow jersey in the final descent, can be proud of beating two double former winners in Contador and Richie Porte (BMC), the title-holder, who fished third, 12 seconds, at the end of a nail-biting final stage won by Belgium’s Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal).

The 2017 edition of Paris-Nice...
We have a great weekend programme in store for you if you want to come and spend the weekend in Nice with us. On the final stage we offer you exclusive hospitality at the stage start or the stage finish, both in Nice. It is also possible to enjoy both so experience the start before walking across to the finish area and enjoy the rest of the day at the finish.

Although the traditional finish on Promenade des Anglais has been moved in respect of the memorial period declared by local authorities, the finish line will still be on the coast (Quai des États-Unis). It will come at the end of a thrilling up-and-down stage around the Nice hinterland. The Col d’Èze, the final climb of the race, could well decide the winner.
