Milan - San Remo 2017
Pro Race & Gran Fondo Sanremo – Sanremo

18th March 2017

The Milan Sanremo always offers early season excitement. Our weekend travel package offers you the opportunity to ride across the finish line in San Remo and have your photo taken on the podium before watching the Pros finish on Saturday and ride the final part of the route in the 100km Gran Fondo on the Sunday.
Some very special VIP access is included with our trip.

Milan San Remo:
At almost 300 kilometers the Milan-San Remo tests rider’s patience and endurance.

In 2016 Ben Swift was narrowly beaten by winner Arnaud Demare. Frenchman Arnaud Demare from team Francaise des Jeux won the 2016 Milan San Remo which took place in nice weather conditions but the course was changed slightly due to a landslide. The race was back on a Saturday in 2016 for the first time in years.

The Milan San Remo pro race is THE monumental classic one day race in the whole of the professional calendar. The race is organised by the the Italian race organisers RCS, owners of sports newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, the same people who organise the Giro d’Italia.
This Spring Classic covers nearly 300km from Milan, south to the coast, and then almost to the French Border, along the Italian Riviera and the city of Sanremo. Always held at the beginning of the year, it is a true “classic” event, with most of the world’s major cycling heroes having won it, at some point. Always held at the beginning of the year, it is a true “classic” event, with most of the world’s major cycling heroes having won it, at some point.

The 2015 race returned to the traditional route of the Milan − San Remo, which had not been used since an extra climb had been added in the 2008 race. The removal of the La Manie climb was seen as making the race more suitable for sprinters. The race started in the city of Milan, travelling to the Mediterranean and then south along the coast. The final part of the race was the most difficult, with five climbs in the last 55 kilometres (34 mi), before the race ended in the city of Sanremo for a distance of 293 kilometres (182.1 miles).

Amateurs can ride the full Milan San Remo distance during the official Gran Fondo Milan Sanremo in the first week of June. If you would like to ride this classic race in nice weather in June 2016 (hopefully), please sign up now.

Start Village (VIP start village access):
The 2017 Milan Sanremo entourage and organisation will set up with the team buses within an enclosed and restricted area. An expo type village is created at the start. It is usually here that everyone who is linked in any way to the Milano Sanremo like TV, sponsors and celebrities from the cycling world will show themselves. Also local companies will be keen to show off their wares. Your VIP passes will give you access to the village and the rider’s paddock. If you are into collecting autographs, this is the best place for it. In Milan is the Start Village where the athletes assemble in the morning along with sponsors and organisation and management before they set off.

MEET THE RIDERS IN THIS ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE!
When you arrive in the start stage town, the Milano Sanremo Club staff will welcome you. You will receive a day pass which gives you access to the Hospitality Area with snack/coffee bar service available. You will meet the riders and experience the exciting pre-race atmosphere.
The highlight of the day is that you will get up close with the riders and you can mingle with the racers and team directors and other people close to the inner world of cycling. Many people really enjoy the start village access due to the fact that you get very close to actual riders and you get a good insight into the inner workings of the 2017 Milan to San Remo race.

Club Truck finish line hospitality – no cycling gear permitted:
The Milano San Remo sets up a limited number of areas located on course within the final portion of the stage for special access called Club Truck. Guests of the Club will arrive at the finish a little before the cyclists, and will have access to the Club Truck, reserved for the top stars and located in a privileged area near the finish line. The Truck will offer snack/coffee bar service, and TV screens will broadcast the final kilometres of the race until the riders come into view. Every guest will receive the exclusive Milan San Remo VIP bag. After the finish we will return to the hotel and have the evening meal.

A day in an official car (Drive experience):
Our most popular VIP option is to spend the whole day on the course during the event. You will meet your driver at the start village and drive the course in front of the caravan. A packed lunch is included on the way and at the stage finish you will enjoy finish hospitality in the finish hospitality bus.

Your day in the car will include:

  • A seat in a VIP car on the race course
  • A maximum of 3 passengers
  • A welcome from the Club staff
  • Accreditation and assignment of a daily pass
  • Access to the hospitality area at the start
  • A packed lunch
  • Access to the Club Truck at the finish with snacks and coffee bar service and TV screens
  • VIP bag of the Milan Sanremo race
  • Shuttle service back to the start city (on request) Available on request

Please note that this is for a ticket only so no hotel or transport is included. At the time of booking you will receive a booking confirmation. Nearer the time you will receive an itinerary with directions and details of the exact location of the stage start location. Your accreditation badge and wristband will be available for collection from the reception desk at the official start village.
