The Cape Town Cycle Tour which was previously held under the name of one of the sponsors, the Cape Argus is a cycling event held in Cape Town, South Africa and it is the largest, timed cycling event in the world. Traditionally the race is held on the second Sunday in March and in 2017 we will see the 40th edition of this fantastic event. The 2017 date has been confirmed as Sunday March 12th 2017. This is a large international event with more than 30,000 people taking part from all over the World in 2016. The route is 110km long and you will ride through various town and communities in the Western Cape of South Africa.

Gondwana Private Game Lodge ****:
Kwena Lodge is a modern and luxurious twist on the traditional Khoi-San dwelling. Each open-plan suite is nestled into its spectacular natural surroundings with 180-degree views, sky lights for star gazing, clay pot fireplaces and deep baths to warm you upon returning from an evening Big 5 Game Drive.
The spacious Safari Lodge Accommodation facilities include a large infinity swimming pool, chic open-plan lounge and bar, with food and beverage services offered in an elegant dining room set around two open fireplaces, the new covered veranda from which to appreciate the animal life and landscape, and the outdoor African boma (a fire pit and sitting area surrounded by a windbreak fence).
Upon arrival at the Safari Park, just a 4-hour drive from Cape Town, Guests are treated to the finest African Cuisine at Gondwana’s Luxury Hotel, prepared using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients: bush breakfasts, romantic picnics, evening barbecues and relaxing sundowners in the picturesque Garden Route.
Each private suite of the Luxury Safari Hotel is a well-appointed, free-standing building with a spacious bedroom overlooking two waterholes across the valley and onto the Outeniqua and Langeberg mountain ranges, which once formed part of the supercontinent known as Gondwanaland.
You will experience Fine Dining throughout your stay at Gondwana Private Game Reserve. Enjoy the African Cuisine on offer at our restaurant, share in a traditional South African Braai (Barbeque), and relax amidst the Garden Route’s Fynbos while on a Romantic Picnic.
Each of the 14 open-plan suites features the sleeping area beneath a central skylight, with a wall towards the rear of the room creating a private dressing area. FLIGHT DAY | 05 MARCH:
Depart London Heathrow airport to Cape Town, South Africa via Johannesburg (book your own flights). We can book your flights for you if you wish. Please contact us for a quote
DAY 1 | 06 MARCH:
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport to be met by our local representative. From the airport you will be transferred to Kleine Zalze Hotel in Stellenbosch for your 4 nights stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Once at the hotel you check in and the rest of the day is at leisure. You are free to explore some of the local restaurants this evening.
DAY 2 | 07 MARCH:
In the morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and afterwards join us for a training ride with local Pro/amateur cyclist. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy a scenic ride. In the afternoon and evening you have the opportunity at leisure to explore the restaurants and the town of Stellenbosch.
DAY 3 | 08 MARCH:
Like yesterday, in the morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and afterwards join us for a training ride with local Pro/amateur cyclist. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy a scenic ride. In the afternoon and evening you have the opportunity at leisure to explore the town of Stellenbosch.
DAY 4 | 09 MARCH:
Like yesterday, in the morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and afterwards join us for a training ride with local Pro/amateur cyclist. Today enjoy a group training ride to nearby wine farm followed by wine tasting and 3 course lunch menu (included). Evening at leisure at hotel with the opportunity to eat out.
DAY 5 | 10 MARCH:
Breakfast in hotel before checking out. Check out and transfer to Inn on the Square Hotel in Cape Town for your 3 night stay during the Cape Town Cycle Race. In the afternoon you are free to go out for lunch and you have leisure time to explore the mother city and some nice restaurants.
DAY 6 | 11 MARCH:
Breakfast in hotel and a rest day before Cape Town Cycle Race. Today you also need to register for the event so you need to make your way to the EXPO and registration village to collect your number. A Pro/Amateur rider will be available today to assist with bike setup and any mechanic work needed.
DAY 7 | 12 MARCH – The 40th Cape Town Cycle Tour
The hotel is excellently located for the start and the finish for today’s event.
DAY 8 | 13 MARCH:
Breakfast in hotel before checking out. Check out of hotel and transfer to Albertinia. Check in to Gondwana Game Lodge for your 2 night stay on a full board basis.
This afternoon, enjoy a late afternoon game drive to explore the big 5. Dinner included after game drive.
DAY 9 | 14 MARCH:
Early morning game drive with breakfast upon return. In the afternoon you are at leisure to relax before the Late evening game drive. Dinner included after game drive.
DAY 10 | 15 MARCH:
Early morning game drive before breakfast at lodge and check out. Check out of lodge and transfer to Cape Town airport for flight back home.

Single travellers and twin to share:
We welcome single travellers on our tours and holidays as it is a great way to join a like-minded group of people and you will make lots of new friends. If you would like to join our group as a single traveller we can offer you two options. A single room or if you want to avoid the single supplement then you can make use of our ‘twin to share’ option. We will pair you up with another traveller (of the same sex) and you can enjoy the event without having to pay extra.
