Spectator Coach:
For any non-riders, we will run a free coach from Annecy to the finish in Le Grand Bornand, and you can then take any of our coaches back to Annecy later in the day.

The coach will collect spectators from set points in Annecy early on Sunday morning – the exact times and locations will be confirmed once we have more information about road closures. We will then drive you directly to the finish area in Le Grand Bornand, where you can wait to congratulate your partner/friend/family member as they cross the finish line. From Le Grand Bornand, you have the option to walk the relatively flat 2km towards Saint Jean de Sixt, where you can watch the riders go past at the 65km mark, leaving you with plenty of time to get back to the finish line. Grand Bornand itself is a popular summer mountain resort, with plenty of restaurants and cafes. There are even some cable cars and chairlifts open in the summer, offering spectacular views of the Aravis mountain range.
Please note – there are limited places on this trip, so we recommend reserving your seat at the time of booking. The details of the spectator coach trip are subject to change based on the road closures put in place on the day.

About Annecy:
Classed as a Town of Art and History, nicknamed the Venice of the Alps due to its three canals crossing the historic town, Annecy is well known for the heritage of its buildings and natural landscape and its quality of life.
Situated besides the purest lake in Europe, at the foot of the Alpine massifs of the Aravis and the Bauges, but close to Switzerland and Italy, it benefits from an exceptional environment. This privilged situation contributes to its bustling economy, today mostly centred around the moving images industry, the outdoor sports industry and tourism.
Overlooked by its 12th century château that today houses the Museum, Annecy has managed to protect its historic centre whilst using the natural landscape to develop numerous leisure activities for every season. Finally, throughout the year there are many cultural events that light up the capital of the Haute-Savoie including the Annecy International Animated Film Festival that took place last month whilst in August the Annecy Classic Festival and the Lake Festival will take place, the biggest fireworks show in Europe.

Our hotels are all in Annecy centre and Cran Gevrier.

About Le Grand Bornand:
Between Lake Annecy and Mont Blanc, at the foot of the majestic Aravis range, Le Grand-Bornand has both the charm of an authentic Haut-Savoyard village and the buzz of a ski resort labelled TOTFA (Top of the French Alps), a mark of prestige that lists the 15 most beautiful resorts in the Alps. A popular destination in summer and winter, Le Grand-Bornand enjoys a rare environment, between its 400 age old chalets, the oldest of which dates from 1664, and its carefully maintained pastures by the 50 reblochon farms that make it the number one farming commune in Haute-Savoie. Known for its festival, Au Bonheur des Mômes, aimed specifically at children and for Glisse au Cœur, a charity event whose originality is to mix skiing with music concerts, Le Grand-Bornand also shines in the sporting arena. Thanks to its ski champions with, of course, head of the pack, Tessa Worley whose nickname is ‘la puce du Grand-Bornand’ and who became, last winter, World Champion in giant slalom.

Sunday 8th July, 2018 – L’Etape du Tour 2018:
We anticipate a 07:00/08:00 start for the Etape, so we have organised early breakfasts at all hotels so you can get to the start early to ensure everyone is lined up in the right pens for the start.
The organisers allocate pens according to likely finish time and historic Etape performance, therefore faster riders start nearer the front and the slower riders at the back.
Please note, we have no influence over your starting pen. The Etape du Tour is a closed road sportive. There will be water stops en-route and mechanical assistance provided by MAVIC. Along the route, there are certain times that you must have passed certain spots, otherwise you may be swept up by the broom wagon.
