TOUR DE FRANCE 2018
The Pyrenean Stages
23rd to 29th July 2018
On this tour you will see all the Pyrenean mountain stages of the 2018 Tour de France and for those bringing bikes you will be able to ride famous Pyrenean climbs. Like last year the 2018 Tour de France will visit the Pyrenees and the Pyrenean stages will provide us with the final sort out of the General Classification.
Our Tour to ride and watch the Pyrenean mountains stages is combined with the opportunity to ride the Col du Tourmalet and enjoy stage hospitality on several stages.
Your tour vehicle will have a bike trailer especially designed to transport bikes fully assembled and there is also one of our customised minibuses on hand as a support vehicle for the various guided rides that we offer during the tour. Riders and spectators are welcome as we will offer a daily programme for both.

Monday 23rd July, 2018 – Arrival day:
As the riders of the 2018 Tour de France enjoy their rest day in Carcassonne, please arrange your own flight to Toulouse. There are numerous airlines that fly into Toulouse airport (book early to take advantage of cheap flights). We will meet you on arrival and take you to the 3 star Hotel Carre Py in Bagneres de Bigorre. You can use the time today to unpack your bike from its box as we are transporting your bike fully assembled. During this evening’s meal we will take the opportunity to go through the programme of the days to come. This is also a good opportunity to get to know your fellow group members.
Please note that we will run one airport transfer which will leave Toulouse at 15.00 so please ensure that you are there in time. It’s a 2.5 hour transfer so if you are not there on time, we can’t provide alternative transport unfortunately.
Tuesday 24th July, 2018 – Carcassonne to Bagneres de Luchon:
The riders of the 2018 Tour de France enter the Pyrenees with a 218km stage from Carcassonne into Bagneres de Luchon.
We will make our way to the Izoard hospitality area in Bagneres de Luchon from Bagneres de Bigorre. It will take about 1 hour to get there and on arrival our official accreditation will mean that we can park near the hospitality area. For riders we will propose a guided ride to Bagneres de Luchon.
For the cyclists...
We have a fantastic ride on the schedule today. The distance is 75km with about 1500 metres of climbing. From Bagneres de Bigorre we head over to Sainte Marie de Campan and we will tackle the final section of the Pau to Bagneres de Luchon stage from the 2017 Tour de France. You will climb the Hourquette d’Ancizan, the Col de Val de Louron Azet (Col d’Azet) and the Col de Peyresourde before arriving in Bagneres de Luchon. You will be supported by our minibus.
This is also tomorrow’s stage in reverse.
Izoard finishline hospitality:
The Tour de France sets up a limited number of areas located on course within the final portion of the stage. These have names like Izoard and Galibier. Access to these areas is usually reserved and by invitation only. You will see famous ex-cyclists, sponsors and team guests.
Typically these areas are within 200 metres or so of the finish line. There is also a spectator friendly elevated viewing area. You will be served with drinks and snacks and there is a big screen to watch the LIVE action as it unfolds. After watching the finish, you will celebrate the victory with Champagne.
Wednesday 25th July, 2018 – Bagneres de Luchon – St Lary Soulan:
The second Pyrenean mountain stage starts from Bagneres de Luchon and takes in the Col de Peyresourde, Col de Val Louron Azet and the Col de Portet. It is only 65km so very short but very intense.
Our location in Bagneres de Bigorre is excellent for accessing the stage as we are only 50km from Saint Lary.
Relais Etape Hospitality:
For both riders and spectators we offer the ‘Relais Etape’ experience. Enjoy a sit down lunch, a comfortable setting with a large screen to watch today’s deciding stage. The ‘Relais Etape’ is an area on the course of a Tour de france stage which takes the form of a small village in a prime position along the route, just a few kilometres from the finish line. We will accommodate a ride to this area for those who are cycling and spectators will be taken directly to the ‘Relais Etape’ to enjoy the day.
This inspiring package mirrors the excitement of the race and includes:
- A clubhouse to accommodate all guests
- Welcome aperitif and unlimited buffet
- Entertainment and live coverage of the race on a giant screen
- Champagne celebration of the day’s action
- Tour de France gift
We will again come back quite late so the evening meal is available at the hotel.
Thursday 26th July, 2018 – Trie sur Baise to Pau:
Today gives the riders a bit of respite as we head out of the Pyrenees for a flat stage with finish in Pau. This will no doubt end up in a bunch sprint.
We will ride the Tourmalet today from Sainte Marie de Campan. This is a 100km ride with a finish in Pau in time to watch the finish today. Everyone can take the tour bus back to bagneres de Bigorre after the stage finish. The spectators can come and join us on the tour bus to Pau.
Friday 27th July, 2018 – Lourdes to Laruns:
The start of today’s stage is from Lourdes which is on our way to Biarritz. We will watch the start at the ‘Village Depart’ and afterwards continue to Biarritz.
We are moving to Biarritz today so you need to be in reception with your bags and bikes after breakfast so we can load the coach and bike trailer. Your bike will not need to be packed away as it will be transported fully assembled.
Village Depart in Lourdes:
The 2018 Tour de France entourage and organisation travel around with the riders. The team buses park within an enclosed and restricted area. An expo type village is created at the start of each one of the stages. It is usually here that everyone who is linked in any way to the Tour de France like TV, sponsors and celebrities from the cycling world will show themselves. Also local companies will be keen to show off their wares. Your VIP passes will give you access to the village and the rider’s paddock. If you into collecting autographs, this is the best place for it.
Saturday 28th July, 2018 – Saint Pee Sur Nivelle to Espelette:
A decisive time trial in the basque country.
Izoard finishline hospitality:
The Tour de France sets up a limited number of areas located on course within the final portion of the stage. These have names like Izoard and Galibier.
