Ultimate Geneva to Nice Cycling Holiday
6th to 16th September 2018
This classic ride from the shores of Lake Geneva to the warmth and crystal waters of the Cote d’Azur is a classic!
This fully supported multi-day cycling adventure will split the 640km andjust short of 15000m of climbing into 7 manageable days. This includes a rest day in Briançon.
During these 7 spectacular days weaving your way through the Haute-Savoie and into the southern Alps will see you test yourself on some of the most well known climbs in France, including the de Col de la Colombière (1613 m), Col des Aravis (1486 m), Col des Saisies (1650 m), Cormet de Roselend (1967 m), Col de l’Iseran (2770 m), Col du Télégraphe (1566 m), Col du Galibier (2646 m), Col du Lautaret, Col d’Izoard (2361 m), Col de Vars (2109 m) and finally the Col de la Cayolle (2326 m).
We are staying in hospitable 3 *** hotels in France and Italy. Good rooms and good food guaranteed.
All hotels have secure bike stores and breakfast and evening meal included.
Thursday 6th September: Arrival Bellegarde
Friday 7th September - Bellegarde-La Clusaz120km, 2000m. Route via the Col Colombière:
Your 9 day Route de Grande alps Start in the town of Bellegarde on the Rhône and the entrance to the Haute Savoie region of France. Departing the town of Bellegarde on small alpine roads the first test piece of the Col de la Colombière at 1613m almost instantly awaits. Your reward for scaling your first of many classic Alpine cols is a night in the beautiful Ski Town of La Clusaz.
Saturday 8th September - La Clusaz-Bourg St Maurice, 95km, 2500m, Aravis, Saisies, Roselend:
Day 2 starts where day 1 left off with more spectacular alpine climbing as you continue south towards Bourg St Maurice and your overnight accommodation for the evening at the base of the formidable Col de l’Iseran. During this 95km days the Col des Aravis (1486 m), Col des Saisies (1650 m) and finally the picturesque Cormet de Roselend (1967 m) await.
Sunday 9th September - Bourg St Maurice-Aussois, 100km, 2200m, Iséran:
After a good nights sleep the climbing starts almost immediately outside the town of Bourg St Maurice as you get stuck into one of the Alpine giants, the Col de l’Iseran (2770M) passing through the ski town of Val d’Isare. You are rewarded by a beautiful and long descent into the valley of the Arc. The final part of your day has a short climb waiting for you into the mountain town Aussois where we stop for the night and you are free to rest those weary legs.
Monday 10th September - Aussois-Briançon, 100km,2000m, Télégraphe, Galibier:
Day 4 of your ride south to the Côte d Azur is a real classic as you pass from the Aussois to Briançon via the Col du Télégraphe (1566 m) as a prelude to the legendary Col du Galibier (2646 m). From the Col the final few Kilometres are a pure joy as you descend down beautiful into the old town of Briançon and our scheduled rest day.
Tuesday 11th September - Rest Day Briançon
Wednesday 12th September - Briançon-Barcelonnettte 100km, 2500m, Izoard, Vars:
The second half of this classic Route de Grande Alps Ride departs Briançon and starts with another alpine giant with the climb of the Col d’Izoard (2361 m). After passing over the col and descending into Guillestre we will pause for a short break before leaving for the afternoons riding via the beautiful Col de Vars (2109 m) and arriving into Barcelonnette.
Thursday 13th September - Barcelonnette-Castellane, 120km, 2000m, Cayolle, Gorges de Daluis:
The penultimate day of this grande ride has just one big col and a few “collets” standing in the way you and your first view of the warm waters of the Mediterranean sea. After the Col de la Cayolle (2326 m) the final 4 hours of your ride passes through breathtaking scenery passing through the picturesque Gorges de Daluis, via the reservoir of Castillon.
Friday 14th September - Castellane-Saint Raphael, 100km,+1200m, Alpes Maritimes:
The final days riding have just a few rolling hills to negotiate until finally you can dip that front wheel into the Med signalling the end of your epic ride.
Saturday 15th September - Saint Raphael-Bellegarde (TGV)
Sunday 16th September - Departure Bellegarde
Fully supported Ultimate Geneva to Nice – Thursday 6th September until Sunday 16 September:
£1200 per person based on sharing a room with 2 single beds
£209 supplement for the sole occupancy of a room

At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit, plus full payment of the stadium seat ticket fee, which is non refundable. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip.

Single travellers and twin to share:
We welcome single travellers on our tours and holidays as it is a great way to join a like-minded group of people and you will make lots of new friends. If you would like to join our group as a single traveller we can offer you two options. A single room or if you want to avoid the single supplement then you can make use of our ‘twin to share’ option. We will pair you up with another traveller (of the same sex) and you can enjoy the event without having to pay extra.
