Tour de Yorkshire 2018 Ride & Watch Package

(With optional VIP access & hospitality packages, and Tour de Yorkshire ride)

3rd to 6th May 2018

The Tour de Yorkshire is a legacy event of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France which took place in Yorkshire in 2014. As with the Tour de France the race attracts large crowds and lots of local support.

In 2018 the men’s race will be 4 days and the women’s race 2 days with also an amateur Sportive event on the Sunday. New for 2018 we offer start and finish hospitality on every stage and entry into the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire ride.

The Tour de Yorkshire is now the 2nd biggest pro stage race in the UK behind the Tour of Britain. Everyone remembers the scenes from the 2014 Grand Depart of the Tour de France of the big crowds standing by the roadside to cheer on the riders. The roads in Yorkshire can be challenging which makes for great racing. In 2018 the Tour de Yorkshire will host 4 days of men’s racing and 2 days of women’s racing. The ongoing success and popularity of cycling in Yorkshire means that Yorkshire will also host the 2019 UCI Road World Championships.

Today’s stage:
The 2018 Tour de Yorkshire starts in the town of Beverley. After starting in Beverley, the riders will head towards the Yorkshire coast and Hornsea before heading towards Doncaster. The only obstacle today is the  ‘Côte de Baggaby Hill’ so we should see a sprint finish.

  • Finish access in Doncaster – £190 per person

Friday 4th May, 2018 – Barnsley to Ilkley (149km) – Women 124km:

Our itinerary:
After breakfast, we will load the bikes onto our customised minibus with trailer and we will make our way to the town of Ilkley from where we will support you on a guided bike ride on the hilly roads of stage 2 of the 2014 Tour de France before returning back to Ilkley to get changed and watch the finish of today’s stage. Finish hospitality is available to purchase separately today if you wish.

Today’s stage:
On stage 2 of the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire there is something special as there will be the first summit finish in the race’s history. The finale comes on the iconic Cow and Calf. This is a fairly tough stage today as there are 3 classified climbs on the route with a total of 1992 vertical metres gained. The Cow and Calf is 200 metres shy of 2 kilometres long with an average of 8% so a puncheur rather than a sprinteur will grab the stage win today. The winner of the 2-day women’s Tour de Yorkshire will be crowned today.

Today’s VIP access:
Like every day we offer VIP access and hospitality at the stage start in Barnsley and at the finish in Ilkley.

  • Start access in Barnsley – £135 per person

If you arrive today for a 2-nights stay with us then please arrange your own transport to Leeds and please make your way to the hotel in Leeds. On arrival you will be able to put your bike into the special bike room at the hotel. Our mechanic is on hand today to assist you with assembling your bike if you have traveled with your bike in a bike box or bag.  After you have checked in, you will have the opportunity to have a wander out of the hotel and enjoy an evening out in Leeds. Check-in time is 15.00.

Saturday 5th May, 2018 – Richmond to Scarborough (184km):

Our itinerary:
Today you can join us for a flatter guided ride north on which we will also take in the start of today’s stage in Richmond. We will transport you out of Leeds in our minibus again to avoid the traffic. You have the option to purchase VIP start access for today;s stage start in Richmond.

Today’s stage:
Stage 3 will ultimately probably be another stage for the sprinters but there are some challenges on the route before the flat finish on the seaside in Scarborough. The first hurdle is Sutton Bank with its banks of 12 per cent before the Silpho climb. There will be 1 passage of Scarborough before finishing there so finish hospitality today will be extra special as you will see a live passage before seeing the likely sprint finish.

Today’s VIP access:
Like every day we offer VIP access and hospitality at the stage start in Richmond and at the finish in Scarborough.

  • Start access in Richmond – £135 per person
  • Finish access in Scarborough – £190 per person
  • Start and finish – £285 per person

When you book your ticket, you will receive a booking confirmation and nearer the time, we will post your ticket to you together with instructions and the exact location of your VIP experience. You will have to make you own way to and from the start and/or the finish.

Sunday 6th May, 2018 – Halifax to Leeds (189.5km):
The profile of this tough final stage looks like shark’s teeth! There will be 6 classified climbs and 3,400 metres of ascent. From Halifax, the first highlight is the Hebden Bridge climb, before tackling Goose Eye, Barden Moor and Park Rash. After Middleham, the riders will then tackle Greenhow Hill and Otley Chevin before finishing in Leeds, in the same place where  the 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ started from.

2018 Maserati Tour de Yorkshire ride:
The 2018 Tour de Yorkshire ride will this year consist of 3 loops in and out of Leeds on some of the the same roads as today’s stage -Short 45km, Medium 80km and Long route 102km.

For those competing in the 2018 Maserati Tour de Yorkshire ride, you will ride to the start from the hotel and be given a waved start somewhere between 06:00 and 08:30. Our bike guide will ride with you to the start at the earliest time.

Why not ride the sportive, get changed at our hotel and then have VIP access at the finish?

  • Start access in Halifax – £135 per person
